Last nights dust devils were, Fiona, Madge, Kaff, Simon, Pat, Michael, Neil, Ben, Duncan and Myself.
Foregoing another opportunity to ride the race track, last night we headed south on the Whipps trail.
After heading up Butler's and over Rangers Road the pace picked up as we crossed the stream and made our way to Whitehall Road. Simon's chain was causing him a few headaches and after a quick stop to retension it we made our way over Chingford Lane and down through the golf course towards Highams Park Lake. Kaff, who is hard core, had a sliding down the hill towards the stream moment before we made it to the boathouse where I received a phone call from Emma, who had arrived a bit late and was lapping the race track looking for us.
Via a few calls, we guided her to meet us where we were and in the meantime we rode a few laps of the lake and did some stream riding with Madge getting stuck mid crossing in some goo. After a bit of search and rescue, Emma arrived on her new Mount Vision and while Simon sorted his puncture a few test rides were had. Very nice, fitted Fiona perfectly!
We continued on to Waterworks, had a play on the hill climb after the tunnel and then as the light started to fade, rode the downhill back to the tunnel and, lead by a quiz bound Pat, retraced our steps for an almost non-stop, quick paced return to base.
The debrief, as seems usual these days, attracted almost as many non-riders, with Dawn, Omar, Barry, Martin, Ollie and Steve all joining us for a few pints.
Good luck to all those heading to Glentress, should be a great trip. I'll see those that are left on Saturday, if not before.
