The ELV/Beacontree Wheelers Friday night 10 mile TT's starting at Navestock are almost upon us again!

Time to cling film your helmet, slap some baby oil on your calfs and practice your tuck position for two laps of the 5 mile Navestock loop against the clock.

Entry is £4 and normally free tea, coffee and cake a plenty.

Get training Si, you're still slower than a fat, bald rugby player on Halfords bike!

Btw, Sid are you able to track down last year's times?

It takes a lot of time, effort, planning and training to look so ungainly on a bike!

Yes they are open. My mistake they are "club"

You are, in theory supposed to be in a club affiliated to the CTT but they are generally very relaxed affairs.

The organisers Leslie Everest (ELV) and Arthur Harrigan (BTW) seemed quite relaxed about letting anyone ride member of a club or not. Lots of people rode all last season and didn't affiliate to a club, just said they were thinking about it.

If you decide to join either club (£20 for yearly ELV) then you are eligible for that clubs points competitions, (which culminates in a trophy for ELV riders.)

The course should be the E14A in the CTT handbook.

Ta for the info, hey Tommy not at all it's not about PB's it get's so competitive. I done a couple with a local club last year and they asked me to join! bloody hell Shelton feeling wanted..... I think Ive lowered the club standards since joining them, but hey ho it's all about having fun.

Hope to see you all sooooooooon

Hey, i'd like to try. Have never done it before.
Please let me know the exact meeting place postcode please.
Do I just turn up, or should i contact the organiser in advance, e.g. to register, etc. ?

I would be taking the train from London, so may need a lift from the train station if that's on anyone's way ?

Cheers.

Hello Minna

You can just turn up, pay the entry and ride.

Best to get there before 6 so you have to chance to ride the course and warm up.

The start is on Old Road in Navestock at the junction with Muthering Lane, I don't know the postcode but if you google map the following:

Old Road, Navestock, Brentwood District

You will see exactly where it is.

What train station are you planning on going to?
If it ain't broke, it probably soon will be.

I will be travelling from either Livepool Street (train to Brentwood), or Bethnal Green (train to Epping). What is the nearest station to Old Street, Navestock ?

Im thinking Liverpool Street to Harold Wood, then abt a 4 mile ride along the lanes to Navestock. Looks a bit more straight forward than Brentwood. Epping will be a no go.... no cycles on tube between L/St and Stratford/Leyton.

No space in my car. Sorry.

May see you there.... an more for any more?

Thanks for the suggestion.
4 miles is manageable, so I'd do exactly that !

I am planning to do it regularly from next Friday onwards (this Fri, i have to do the last spin class with the tri beginner squad).

Is it ok if I bring 1 or 2 friends who are also interested in doing time-trials ?

Am excited and looking forward to next Friday.
Btw, is our MBRO35 jersey aerodynamic ?

Still no diesel in all my local petrol stations, not happy, been looking forward to the first TT for weeks. My van has also demonstrated it's amazing sense of humour by choosing today to develop a petrol leak!

Have a good one folks, smash it!

I did the very same. Seems like everyone got quicker over time last year. June / July are the fastest times.

Its a love/hate thing

Took a min and 15 off my time and 1.15 slower than last year....

I'm going to give it another go and no doubt be slower again.

Not going if raining.
Not going if I feel like crap
Not going if I'm going to be late
Not going if I'm not positive

This racing against myself is cracking me up......

I HATE TIME TRAILS, BUT I WONT LET IT GET THE BETTER OF ME

I was out riding on Wednesday night with Julie and we bumped into a time trial that occurs every Wednesday. Think the start time was 7.30 and it was a 10 mile loop to Ongar. It starts at the end of Hook Road and think costs £2.

Just in case anyone is interested.

Talk about rubbing it in Kaff ! If I'd have known you and Julie were going to be out on your road bikes on Wednesday night I would've definitely come on the ride. I'm told the views are hard to beat.
